Отзыв на Sandos Caracol Eco Resort 5

Ill be short with my review.





This has been our favourite resort for me and my family over the last few years but our recent stay (Dec 2024) was horrible...





I was playing with my 6 y.o. son in the sea when he suddenly screamed and rushed out of the water. I took a quick look on the shore - he was staying shocked, not moving, screaming, with his foot bleeding. My first thought was he stepped on a rock and hurt his foot - yes, the seashore at Sandos Caracol is all covered with rocks (see photos/videos attached). However - not a word about that from Sandos when you are considering this place.





I glanced into the water and saw a huge fish that looked very much like an underwater snake. I had no idea what sort of fish that was but it was long and not moving. Really horrible. There is a scuba diving point close to that place and a local guy who witnessed this told me my son got bitten by a Moray Eel because it lives (!) in the underwater rocks. I checked the wound - this wasnt a rock hurt. This was a fish bite and it looked scary. The doctor at Sandos tried to help but he was helpless. We ended up coming to Playa del Carmen hospital to examine the wound 2 times (each visit was around USD 600-700 not including the taxi). The kid seems to be okay now - 2 weeks after the accident. He was unable to stop on his foot so we had to use a stroller which screwed up his stay even more.





I could hardly believe the Sandos administration was not aware about the rocks they have on their beach and the danger they pose in the water. The resort is full of kids and its crazy there are even no warning signs at the beach. I spoke to the administration but their response was poor. They say they are not allowed to remove the rocks according to some federal laws. When I asked why they dont put warnings on the beach to keep people informed about the danger they said they would think about that and probably do something later.





Just out of interest - I walked along the shorelines to see the beach at other resorts next to Sandos Caracol. Some of them have no rocks or reefs at all (!). At some beaches I even noticed signs warning about jelly fish from May till October.





I am not posting this to desecrate Sandos resort, I just wanted to share the information which Sandos is not sharing anywhere. Its a good place to stay and its up to you to come here or not. If you decide on Sandos just keep in mind the rocky beach which is not safe. Hopefully my post will help someone avoid my story.
